After a successful Ormond Restaurant Week in 2015, Carlos approached me at his original location at 63 W. Granada Boulevard to assist in the interior design at his new location at 439 S. Nova Rd. He was moving from a quaint historical home where the bistro had resided previously for over 14 years - into a plaza. The main goal was bringing the character and vibe of the original location into the new 5,000 sqft. space that was known previously as Tekaya and a number of other restaurants. We had 30 days to launch! I sketched the design ideas and began to source and up-cycle materials and palette wood to create a Victorian bistro.
I documented the entire process. Designed the entire concept from scratch. I hand-lettered the chalkboard, bathroom signs, bar menus & more. Custom made retail table and host stand. I hung every window and acquired vintage curtains to hang throughout. I salvaged an old chest, window shutters and more. I also sourced local goods to sell in the waiting area for an added revenue stream. I completely updated the old and tired bathrooms by painting and re-surfacing the stalls. Planted plants, hung umbrellas... Planned a grand-opening party with a breakfast themed photo-booth by Frame of Mind. This was a fun opportunity that led BLOOM to assist La's further with digital marketing, content creation and special events for a successful launch of the new location. Check it out!
